We have been learning about "Bucket Filling" the last couple weeks. Everyone has an invisible bucket. We are doing a great job at being Bucket fillers in our class and not Bucket dippers! The students decorated their Bucket and wrote about what fills their Bucket and makes their hearts happy!

We were busy this morning colouring our hedgehogs and gluing on leaves for the quills. The children's art is on the bulletin board outside our classroom. Come have a look!
We had a visitor from our community! Constable Winkles came to our class and read us a story and reviewed T.I.L.T with the students. T - tell the person to stop, I - ignore the person, L - leave the situation, and T - tell an adult.
"Along the branch. Down the stem. Around the hive. Now you have the number 5!" After practicing how to print our number five on our whiteboards, we were feeling a bit silly!!!
We finally met our big buddy class! Mrs. Regan's Grade 3 class has come over a few times now to do activities, play on the playground, and read with us.
We love to read in our class! We do a lot of partner reading throughout the day. When we have our partner, our reading books and a quiet spot in the room we EEKK! We sit elbow to elbow and knee to knee (EEKK), and listen to our partner read. Then we switch and get a chance to practice reading while our partner listens. The students love this!
After learning about apples all month, the students got to wrap up our unit by making apple sauce. We visited Mrs. MacDonald and her kindergarten class to share information we learned about apples. We cut up our apples and put them in a big pot to boil. The students found it funny that we put all parts of the apple in (seeds, stems, and leaves)! We let our apples boil while we did some learning. After recess, we each had a turn scooping out the "apple mush" and putting it in the apple press. Great fun was had by all! |
